Use Rentium from ChatGPT or Claude

Use ChatGPT or Claude to read your authorized Rentium records, work with the same inspectable memory, and make routine creates or updates. When bank-agent access is available, it can also help review and categorize imported bank activity, match it to exact accounting already in your books, or map settlement accounting to an already-connected account. Add one secure connection, then sign in and choose your Rentium workspace. Protected actions open the same Rentium-owned Approve/Reject card used by the built-in assistant.

Moving your existing portfolio?

You can skip the external connection: upload spreadsheets, CSVs, lease PDFs, or screenshots to Rentium's built-in assistant. It drafts the import and waits for your approval.

Set up with Rentium AI

One memory layer across assistants

Rentium keeps personal and workspace context as Markdown files you can inspect and control. Its authorized memory tools let the built-in assistant, ChatGPT, and Claude work from the same Rentium-owned source instead of three disconnected memory copies.

ChatGPT

Add Rentium as a custom MCP app

  1. 1

    Check access with your workspace

Full read-and-write MCP apps currently require ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu on the web. Your workspace administrator must enable developer mode; Enterprise and Edu workspaces may also grant access through role controls.

  2. 2

    Open the app creator

In ChatGPT Settings, open Apps and choose Create. Depending on your role, this may be under your user settings or Workspace settings. Turn on Developer mode if prompted.

  3. 3

    Enter the Rentium connection

Name the app Rentium, enter https://api.rentium.app/api/mcp as its MCP server endpoint, and choose OAuth. Advanced OAuth values can stay empty because Rentium supplies its discovery metadata.

  4. 4

    Scan tools and authorize

Scan the available tools, complete Rentium sign-in, and choose the workspace ChatGPT may use. Review the actions and create the app; an administrator controls publication and workspace access.

  5. New app form

    Name
    Rentium
    Connection
    Server URL
    Server URL
    https://api.rentium.app/api/mcp
    Authentication
    OAuth

ChatGPT availability depends on plan and workspace policy. Full read-and-write MCP support is currently a web beta for Business, Enterprise, and Edu; Pro is limited to read and fetch. An administrator may need to enable developer mode, approve the app, and refresh its actions after Rentium adds tools.

Claude

Add Rentium as a custom connector

  1. 1

    Open Connectors

In Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors. Select the plus button and choose Add custom connector.

  2. 2

    Add Rentium's server address

Enter https://api.rentium.app/api/mcp. You can leave Advanced settings blank — Rentium handles the OAuth connection automatically.

  3. 3

    Connect your workspace

Select Add, then Connect. Sign in to Rentium and choose the workspace Claude may use. Team and Enterprise workspaces require an owner to add the connector first.

  4. 4

    Enable it in a conversation

In a Claude chat, select the plus button by the message box, open Connectors, and turn on Rentium for that conversation.

  5. Custom connector URL

Connecting Quo into Rentium is the other direction

ChatGPT and Claude connect outward to Rentium's public MCP server. A personal Quo grant instead connects inward to Rentium's built-in assistant, where explicit reads can run directly and every other action waits for exact approval. The public MCP server never re-exports that Quo grant. To use Quo directly in an external AI, connect Quo's separate official connector for ChatGPT or Claude.

Check the address before you connect

The connector can read authorized records, manage memory, and make ordinary creates or updates. For supported protected actions, Rentium returns its own MCP App with the exact arguments and Approve/Reject controls. The server claims that exact action once before execution; a chat reply is never an approval credential. Always verify the official address and workspace below.

Plain-language answers

Connection questions

What is MCP?
MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is a standard way for an AI assistant to use tools and work with data in another product. You do not need to install or learn MCP to connect Rentium — add Rentium's server URL once, then sign in normally.
Why does ChatGPT or Claude call Rentium a custom or unverified connector?
Rentium is not listed in the ChatGPT app or Claude connector directories yet, so it is added through their custom MCP flow. The warning is expected. Confirm that the server address is exactly https://api.rentium.app/api/mcp before continuing.
Which ChatGPT plans can connect Rentium?
ChatGPT custom MCP availability depends on your plan and workspace policy. Full read-and-write MCP support is currently a web beta for Business, Enterprise, and Edu. Pro supports read and fetch connections, but not Rentium's create, update, or memory-write tools. A workspace administrator may need to enable developer mode and approve the app.
Does the connector get my Rentium password?
No. Rentium uses OAuth: the connector sends you to Rentium's secure sign-in and receives permission to work in the workspace you choose. Your password is never entered into the connector form.
What can ChatGPT or Claude do after I connect Rentium?
The public connector can read authorized rental records, including owners, properties, units, tenants, leases, payments, the chart of accounts, and rent roll data; manage personal and workspace memory; and make ordinary creates or updates. For supported protected actions, Rentium shows an exact Approve/Reject MCP App before anything runs. When bank-agent access is enabled, it can use the same existing permission to review or categorize imported transactions, remove coding, match them to exact existing ledger entries, map rent-payment settlement accounting to an already-connected account, manage deterministic categorization rules, and request a refresh. A match does not reconcile a statement, and a settlement mapping does not change the provider bank account or move money. It cannot connect, complete, or disconnect a bank feed; retrieve balances or full account details, credentials, or identity documents; or move money.
What happens to bank data I use with an AI?
Rentium does not sell bank transaction data or use it to train models. When bank-agent access is enabled, its built-in assistant uses no-collection and zero-data-retention routing for bank requests. When you direct Rentium to send transaction data to ChatGPT, Claude, or another external tool, that provider's retention, training, location, and subprocessor terms apply to its copy. Rentium never exposes bank credentials, full account numbers, balances, or identity documents through these AI surfaces.
Do I need ChatGPT or Claude to import my existing data?
No. Rentium includes its own AI assistant. Open the assistant in your dashboard, attach spreadsheets, CSV files, PDFs, or screenshots, and ask it to import your portfolio. It proposes a plan for your confirmation before creating records.
Can Rentium's built-in assistant use my Quo calls and messages?
Yes. Each staff member can connect their own Quo access from Connections using OAuth, without copying an API key. Rentium discovers the tools that Quo makes available to that person at the time. Only tools explicitly marked read-only can run directly; sending a message, changing a contact or task, or using anything without clear read-only metadata always pauses for exact approval. Quo and the AI provider processing the turn apply their own terms to data they handle, and the staff member can disconnect the grant at any time.
Does Rentium memory work with both the built-in assistant and connected AI?
Yes. Rentium keeps personal and workspace memory as inspectable Markdown files in Rentium instead of copying it into an AI provider's private memory. The built-in assistant and connected ChatGPT or Claude conversations can use the same authorized memory tools. Personal files stay with one workspace membership; workspace files are limited to collaborators with workspace-wide assistant access. Whether a connector also shows native MCP memory files in its own browser depends on that host.
Can I disconnect Rentium later?
Yes. Remove or disconnect Rentium from the connector settings in ChatGPT or Claude. You can reconnect later and choose a Rentium workspace again.
